The Process
Your wheels can be brought in to us either with the tyres still on or
alternatively you can arrange for them to be demounted.
The first stage is to remove the existing paintwork by stripping them
back to bare metal. Minor repairs such as kerbing damage can them be carried
out.
Wheels are then put into an oven and stoved at 200˚c to remove any dampness
or gases, which may be present in the casting.
Once they have been stovedwe apply a powder coated primer coat, which both
seals the bare metal work and acts as a smoothing coat. The primer coat
is then stoved on in the oven.
After the wheel has been left to cool we apply the colour coat. This is
also stoved on and allowed to cool.
Finally if the customer has chosen it, a clear powder
coated lacquer is applied and stoved on. A lacquer coat not only provides additional protection to the paintwork but also improves the overall appearance.
